Ray Germann

Ray Germann specializes in developing and implementing strategic public affairs programs and technology-based solutions to meet clients' communications needs. He has managed strategic public affairs programs at more than 100 sites and facilities around the world, often in cases involving numerous, diverse stakeholder groups; potentially controversial issues; and high risk to the client's financial position or public image. He has also managed programs designed to assess and improve positioning across multi-national corporations and government agencies. Ray's focus has been on delivering tangible, measurable improvements to the client's operations or its public image using a combination of communications expertise and technical knowledge.

Some of his key projects have included management of a multi-site environmental communications assessment and planning program for one of the world's largest chemical companies, the successful siting of a controversial biological waste incinerator for a leading pharmaceutical company and development and oversight of a crisis management software system for an international energy company.

Ray's areas of expertise include media, government and community relations, crisis management and facilitation. He has written numerous papers, which have been delivered at national and international conferences on subjects ranging from risk communications programs for companies in emerging economies to site remediation programs at U.S. federal facilities. His clients have included DuPont, Rhone-Poulenc, General Electric, AT&T, Comcast/Cellular One, Merck, SmithKline Beecham, Waste Management, PECO Energy, GPU Energy, the U.S. Army Environmental Center, the U.S. Department of Energy and the State of Pennsylvania.

Ray holds a BA in Journalism from Temple University and an MBA in International Business from St. Joseph's University. Prior to joining Holt & Germann, Ray was a partner at Environmental Resources Management (ERM), one of the world's largest environmental consulting firms, where he established and managed the Public Affairs and Community Relations practice. He also served as a spokesperson for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he received the Silver Medal for Superior Service for his work during the Ashland Oil Spill crisis, and worked as a news reporter for New Jersey's Daily Register. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Perkiomen Valley Watershed Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the Perkiomen Watershed in Pennsylvania.
